What Should Schools Do ?

At the outset , I introduce myself as K.Ashwin Kumar , A management consultant, Soft Skills Trainer and Attitude Development Program implementor from S 9 Consulting, Old Alwal, Secunderabad. I wish to share few ideas :

My views are as follows :

A true leader is one who is sensitized to the ever changing societal needs , thinks out of the box,practices what he/she preaches and with immense self belief charters his/her own path for the common good of the humanity.The very first foundation for every child is the mother's lap and the next is the school.Great care should be taken today to build every temple of learning in this country with passionate mentors  not teachers. 

In this digital era, there should be paradigm shift in the process in which the school conducts itself first , delivers the education credibly,identifies the latent talent in every child and it has a written plan for the same and creates a platform for every child to blossom into a meaningful career path ahead irrespective of parents whims and fancies towards rote learning leading to meaningless ranks being published in every form of media further proceeding to make them join multi national labour creation institutes at the state ,at the national level and at the international level and all this at the expense of this country's exchequer.The final conclusion to this method in madness culminates in a fancy dowry to the boy and concession to the girl in the same marriage ritual. This tradition was , is and will continue definitely in the herd of sheep mentality of Andhera Pradesh , pun intended and not a typo error.

90% of today's parents are baby producers and playschool dumpers.For them what matters is the BRAND name of the school and the prestige it adds to their social image when they declare that their child is being educated in XYZ  school ,in front of their friends and relatives and this adds to the peer pressure of one and all in the herd.A true educationist makes them understand that a school is a partner in the nation building apart from educating their child.It is imperative here to understand that every educationist categorically believes that every child , not only his/hers , has to grow up with right values and self sustainable skills to be global communicator vis-a-vis local leader. To achieve the same, basic skills that are mandatory are English,Computer Technology, Sports,Literature,Arts,Scientific temperament ,NCC or Boys Scouts and fluency in local resident language where he/she is being educated. 

Shaping a future leader in his or her own domains of interest begins with identifying the potential passions a child has displayed during the formative years leading upto 7th or 8th standard.Counseling the child and the parents separately and jointly and making chartered vision document plan for every child should be made mandatory at all government and private run educational institutions. Keeping the Vision document plan of every child and the family confidential is the job of the custodian of the school.

A child is the father of the man is apt here to understand that every child imbibes the socio-ethical-moral values from their parents first.The verbal and non verbal expressions of the seniors around in the family and outside shapes and conditions the child at every level of growth.The fresh,innocent, clay like mind and heart is influenced right from home, in the classes, at the playground, in the toilets and the tuitions about managing himself or herself. A constant cross check and right reinforcement of moral and ethical code of conduct goes a long way in shaping the true leaders of tomorrow.

What shapes a true leader is the influence of the environment and his/her self imbibed values with the changing trends of the society.

Today the influence of the internet , mobile,and distorted electronic media is monstrous and catastrophic.Earlier generation were at an advantage as they were exposed to the reading and writing habits and constant check from the grand parents and others was there to reinforce the right values as they were growing up.

Today most of the government and private schools are run in commercial complexes without proper toilets, and sports grounds.There are no moral science classes and focus on Hygiene and sanitation has totally taken a backseat.The civic sense training to be drilled in every grown up is critical for shaping them into accountable citizens.Most of the schools do not have proper grounds, neither conduct science fairs,make their students participate in Boys scouts, NCC or even in I-Day or R- day parades.These activities will build team management and right leadership skills.The neglect of these have lead to the lacunae that any workshop can address.

My concluding paragraph emphasizes that that these so called "CHAI-NA",Techno, Concept, Digi, Smart class,schools should be put on notice and every government employee who has more than 10 years of service left or new entrants should mandatorily make their children educated in state/Z.P./MandalCentral Government institutions and not anywhere else and the reason being yours truly have questioned these of those educating in the government run institutions are putting up their children in private run institutions.My scientific deduction for the above behaviour is "either you are bad teachers or there are better teachers in private schools " ACCEPT IT. 

The real quality of a true leader lies in being a good human being and I conclude what my mother always shares that " A good citizen need not be a good human being but a good human being will definitely be a good citizen". So I request one and all that let us focus to create good human beings enabling stronger state, country and a meaningful world .

I sincerely thank you for reading  my views with an iota of hope it changes the person who is reading this document to certain level  and change is effected and affected to the humanity at the grass root level.
