Responsibility - Individual, Parent and Society

Responsibility  - Individual, Parent  and Society

This blog is being written post the sad death of a young talented & budding cricketer who happened to be the son of the legendary Mr.Azharuddin.For those who have joined late this lad died due to speed bike racing on the outer ring road on a Suzuki power bike. The cost of the bike was around 15 lakhs and it did not have proper registration, nor insurance and it was registered on some lame duck footwear dealer in Old city.During the course of the Police investigation it was revealed that this bike was rerouted through many channels to avoid tax and the footwear dealer confirmed that this was for the ex Indian cricket legend. The man himself admitted that this bike was gifted to his son as part of Idd celebrations. Now the latest news that is doing the rounds is Mr.Azhar wants to start an N.G.O against SPEED BIKING. What an irony?.

When I first came to know about the reports in the media [more so TV9 had already declared him dead when he was in a critical state] , I felt very sad and angry towards the irresponsible parenting towards this child.A Bike which costs 15 lakhs as a gift  to a 16 year old boy was ludicrous and arrogance dignified by the presenter. The responsibility lies with the parent to inculcate the basic rules of being a good citizen and safety towards self and others on the road.Which was glaringly avoided and shows the irresponsibility on the side of the parent here.

The hectic modern life ,changing life style , emerging materialistic values and substitution of the money in all aspects has taken a heavy toll in our lives.Parents today substitute the valued time to be spent with the child by gifting them play stations, x boxes, costly mobiles, laptops etc and the bondage that should happen in the growing years is sadly missing.Peer pressure amongst the parents is at its peak and this is being transferred to the children at the same speed. I know few people who have shifted their children who were doing very well academically from their original school to Bhashyam, Narayana, Chaitanya and all the Rote based, percentage creator schools and have seen the drastic drop in the way children have shaped up post 12th standard. The lack of general knowledge, responsibility towards civic awareness , pathetic English skills and the biggest drawback here is the rote based learning leading to percentage pressure on children and their seeking solace outside the parent zone which I need not elaborate.

All of us are aware of the rapid advancement of drug trade in India which is affecting the youth in every nook and corner of the country but what are we doing about it?

NOTHING.

Every day in the papers we see that so and so have been caught in rave parties, where these drugs are being sold , xyz filmstar is mafia drug lord of A.P.The Police department lets them off due to the legal tangles with a flimsy penalty which is peanuts for those in the trade. There is a rumour that these drug cases are a good retirement benefit plans for some of the top brass in the police department. The way we as society are being lenient towards these dangerous criminals of the first order can one day affect every family before our  city state and country becomes another Columbia, Every Parent,Individual and Indian should bring in draconian laws to punish these offenders like in Middle East and create a fear amongst those who are doing this business and some who are contemplating to venture into this.

Every child is important irrespective of the strata of society he or she comes from and it is the responsibility of one and all to create a safe, green , socio- friendly future for them and in short to all of us.

Be a Responsible individual, parent, Indian and above all a human being.
